Yes you can. I decided through the holidays that I was going to eat as I used to and then go back to healthy eating. 2024 ended up being more stressful than I thought, and it hit me. I didn't quite get back.
When I first began the Feel Great System, I stayed consistent. I was eating healthy and doing the fasting as I should. As the holidays approached, I felt I could "cheat" a bit and get by with it. While you're working the program, yes, you can have a "treat meal" once in a while. Maybe once a week, allow yourself to have something that doesn't fall into the healthy category - just don't make it all day, every day.
As the holidays approached, I found myself tempted because I didn't want to miss out on the wonderful holiday foods and treats. So, I allowed myself extra treat meals. This led to more treat meals, then dropping the fasting now and again. A little of the weight came back, but not much. I could just work it off.... so I told myself. Through the holidays I put about 10 pounds back on of the 40 I had lost.
Settling into 2024 came with more stress than anticipated. I am a stress or emotion eater. When I find myself stressing or overly emotional about something (even if I don't show it on the outside), I will eat those feelings away. For some reason, my first craving or go-to is toast. I can eat a loaf of bread as toast if I were to allow myself. Then are the salty treats such as chips. It used to be common for me to devour an entire bag of chips on my own - especially when in this feeling-eating mood.
Each month of 2024 came with additional pounds. The more I gained, the more I felt down about myself. I ended up putting on the entire 40 pounds that I lost in 2023... and an additional 10!!
So, I will stress here that it is very important to build and solidify those healthy eating habits and stick to them. If you need help with things like changing your diet and sticking to a fasting schedule - the Feel Great System is awesome at helping to curb the appetite and cravings. It works tremendously on the glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol. It definitely helps to enhance your mood!
Wallowing in my self pity and feeling down about myself just made things worse. So, it's time to start again. It's time to start over. Get back on the track I found in 2023 and reclaim my health.. again.
